Private Wealth Advisor

I currently serve as a Private Wealth Advisor, Managing Partner, and member of the investment committee here at SkyOak Wealth. In my day-to-day, I draw on over three decades of broad financial services experience across equities, fixed income, options, and alternative investments.

After some time working as an auditor for Hilton Hotels, I began my career in the financial advisory space in 1994 with Edward Jones, where I managed offices in West Bloomfield and Lake Orion, Michigan. In 1995, I joined Smith Barney and formed a business partnership with Ken Brandt. By 1996, we were building a Registered Investment Advisor firm dedicated to serving private wealth clients.

Married since July 1996, my wife, Jennifer, and I have two sons, Blake and Brendan, who are proudly pursuing their own passions in real estate and management.

Outside of the office, I spend my time learning about exponential technologies, and consider myself to be an avid AI explorer. I always enjoy helping out around the community, as I’ve spent many years coaching youth football, mentoring college students, and serving for over two decades in the Detroit Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization. Currently, I sit on an advisory board for Team Joseph, a non-profit dedicated to funding cutting-edge research to help find treatments and a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

My Ideal Day

Spending time with family and friends, getting in a round of golf or traveling somewhere new, and enjoying some spicy food and good wine.

What I Do Best

I’m continually working toward excellence and always exploring ways to improve every area of my life, whether that be through the Team Joseph non-profit or in technology research.

Little-Known Fact About Me

My best friend since kindergarten and I share a long list of uncanny similarities:

  • Born on the same day
  • Our parents share the same anniversary
  • We were roommates at Central Michigan University, both majoring in finance
  • We joined the same firm after graduation and scored the same on the Series 7 exam.
